“do or not do - there is no try”
Asia Pacific Championships - Junior and Cadet
Wednesday, 27 February 2019 11:11

After discussions between the IJF, the Judo Union of Asia and the OJU President it is now confirmed that a combined Asia Pacific Championships for Juniors and Cadets will take place in Taipei from the 27th to the 30th of July this year.

This combined event will replace the OJU Championships which have been suspended by the IJF.

The Board of JNZ has already approved two supported tours this year - the Asian Tour to Macau and Hong Kong earlier in July and the OJU Open for Seniors, Juniors and Cadets in Perth in September. Limited funds prevent JNZ from supporting the Asia Pacific event.

It is however JNZ's view that the Asia Pacific comp will be a high level tournament with the high likelihood that our players could spend a lot of money for only one first round fight. Our recommendation is that the Macau/Hong Kong option with an intervening training camp is a far better spend of players funds .

JNZ will not however stand in the way of qualified and selected players that wish to attend the Asia Pacific Championships for Cadets and Juniors but in line with our rules, players under the age of 18 must travel with a suitable adult.

Those clubs with players interested in the event and wishing to be considered for selection should send a confirmation email to
