At the 2025 National Championships twin brothers Sean and Kieran Masuda-Morgan (WEL WN) achieved a rare
“Double" - both winning a gold medal in the Cadet and Junior U73 weight categories respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time in NZ Judo history that this has occurred, There have been a number of siblings achieving similar results, but never twins.
Former coach Kelvin Bradford commented that the pair had made steady progress over the past two years ,Sean this year had been undefeated in Cadet competition and had benefited from a training stint in Japan. Keiran - who had suffered a serious back injury and has been sidelined for most of the year - produced an outstanding performance in only his second tournament since his return to competitive Judo.
Both are model Judoka, fiercely competitive in the traditional sense, relying on speed , technique and time in the dojo for their success.
Congratulations to both.
